I'm Back, Bitches!

Tue, 06/28/2011 - 3:29PM by HelloPretty 0 Comments - 7 Views

That's right, I'm sure that all of you have been so sad that I've been on a SLIGHT hiatus, but I'm back and better than ever! Unfortunately for moi and for the 5 people out there reading this blog (Hi Dad!), life got in the way and I've been just a bit too busy to blog. However, how could I deprive the world from my thoughts on Chanel's Fall 2011 collection? (OMG cream shadows with sparkles! I'm obsessed.) What self respecting lip gloss addict isn't waiting with baited breath to hear how I feel about Paul and Joe Lip Laquer? So you see, I had to resurrect myself.

I'll be moving to a new apartment soon with free internet, which will definitely help my cause. In the meantime, I'll mooch off of my oh so generous neighbors, just so you, my dear readers, can get your fix.

Until then, here's a picture of my super fun manicure-I did this myself and it only cost me about $3! Trés Chic and Trés Cheap!!

Viva La Clutch!

Wed, 02/10/2010 - 1:35PM by HelloPretty 0 Comments - 6 Views

When it comes to handbags, I'm  normally a size queen-the bigger the better. I am constantly getting teased about my oversized purses and the amount of stuff that I tote around with me.

As I've previously mentioned, I just returned from a FANTASTIC trip to Las Vegas. While in Vegas, I definitely did NOT want to carry around a big bag. Enter the clutch. Right before my trip, I discovered a great company based in England called Bagslag; I fell for their zippered clutch, The Tracey.

Tracey was my new BFF while I was in Vegas (well, along with the cute New Jersey boy that I met). I carried this bag with me every night that I went out, and it was the perfect pop of color for every outfit. The leather on this bag is so incredibly soft, and even the lining is adorable (it's pink taffeta).

The folks over at Bagslag are SO incredibly nice as well; their customer service definitely ranks as some of the best that I've encountered in my online shopping experiences. If you're in the market for a unique bag, check out their website- www.bagslag.com.

If I had been lucky enough to hit the jackpot while in Vegas, I'd have purchased these bags by now; but alas, I'm forced to save up money the old fashioned way. Hopefully sometime in the near future, these clutches will be part of my collection:

Normally I don't go for anything with an animal theme (although I did ROCK my leopard print shoes while in Sin City),  but this clutch from Betsey Johnson is understated and flashy at the same time, chic and so Vegas appropriate, how can I resist???

I am completely obsessed with Locher's; this line features the cutest t-shirts with cleverly disguised, perverted embroidery. A shirt with "Little Slut" (written in french)  surrounded by embroidered little flowers? How dainty and dirty at the same time! Recently Locher's expanded their line to include clutches and lipstick cases. I can't wait to purchase one of these! The fabrics range from pretty florals to plaids and stripes; the most fun part about these bags is that you can customize it with a woven phrase-the one in the picture above says "Bucks from Hooking". Other options include, "Only to be used on shoes, clothes and alcohol", and "I need a rich old chap". Check out their website at www.lochers.com.

In my humble opinion, gray is the new black. I love this snake embossed leather clutch from Helena De Natalio. You can just tell from looking at the picture that this leather is buttery soft, and this would DEFINITELY jazz up any ensemble. Right now Helena De Natalio bags are on sale at Gilt Fuse. If you want an invite to that site, leave a comment.

That's all on the bag front-stay tuned for upcoming posts including a review of my new Dior mascara!

These heels were made for walking...

Wed, 02/10/2010 - 12:15AM by HelloPretty 0 Comments - 5 Views

Oh mon dieu! I'm sorry that it's been so long since I've posted on here. I've been busy with birthdays, work, and a very fun and exhausting trip to Las Vegas. But I'm back and ready to start blogging again!

I have recently started to wear high heels more-and now I am somewhat obsessed with finding cute (and comfortable) shoes to wear out and about. I've been combing the internet looking for options, and with Valentine's Day quickly, there are lots of sexy shoes (many in my favorite color of pink!) that I'm considering.

These are from Moschino Cheap and Chic (although at $595, I'd hardly call them cheap). I love the color and the flower detail on them. Seeing as these are slightly out of my price range, I can only imagine how cute they'd look on my feet.

These platform heels from Chinese Laundry are much more in my price range-I found them on 6pm.com for $53 and some change. I love the stacked heel on these, and the color is super fun.

Ah Betsey Johnson, how I love thee. These wedges are too cute, from their pom pom decoration to the gingham print. I may need to purchase these before summer arrives.

I'm in the market for a cute yellow shoe and these fit the bill-they're from Two Lips and I found them on 6pm.com for $23! They're sweet and vampy at the same time (kinda like yours truly).

So there you have it-I'll be sure to post if I end up purchasing any of these shoes!

Lancome La Laque Fever-Ultimate Lasting Full Color Lipshine

Thu, 01/14/2010 - 11:19PM by HelloPretty 0 Comments - 72 Views

Lancome LA LAQUE FEVER - Ultimate Lasting Full Color Lipshine

$26.50 by Lancome at Sephora

What it is: A long-lasting, full-color lipshine. What it does: Lancôme LA LAQUE FEVER - Ultimate Lasting Full Color Lipshine delivers an elixir of vibrant, concentrated color and unprecedented shine in one gliding stroke. From the moment of application, densely pixilated pearls combined with unique polymers to give multidimensional shine that truly holds to your lips-no touch-ups for 6 hours! What else you need to know: New soft-sculpt applicator precisely designs fuller lips for sensual lip contours.

I'm a bit of a lip gloss snob. I own more glosses than I care to mention, and have tried pretty much every brand under the sun. So to say that a lip gloss is one of my favorites is a pretty big deal.

Lancome Spot Pink La Laque Fever IS one of my favorite lip glosses. Of. All.Time. Now, to be even considered as a favorite, a lip gloss must possess these qualities:

  • Shine-Hello? If it's called a gloss, then it better be shiny. If it has any sort of shimmer or even a slight dose of glitter, even better.
  • Mileage-I need a gloss that's going to last. I don't want to pull it out every 5 minutes and reapply.
  • Range of Colors-If a gloss is really good, then I'll probably want to purchase it in several colors. I want variety in said colors.

Spot Pink delivers on all of these qualities and then some. As you can see in the pictures below, this gloss in SHINY. It does have some glitter in it, so it definitely stands out when you wear it. Now I purchased this gloss to wear to my first Lady Gaga concert. I wanted something bright, something fun, and something glam. The shine factor in Spot Pink definitely amped up the glam for me. It also lasts a loooong time. It will last a good 6 hours for me without reapplying. If I'm eating or drinking anything (me, drink? I would never do such a thing!), then you may need to reapply more often. (One thing that's really interesting to note-on Lancome's website, it says that this gloss will go 8 hours without reapplying; on Sephora's, it says 6 hours. I personally can't see how one could go 8 hours without applying this gloss.)

Now the colors. Mon Dieu! Spot Pink is a bright pink, as you'll see in the swatch below. It almost appears neon pink on my arm but on my somewhat pigmented lips, it's not nearly as bright. It also has a good amount of microglitter in it. I do own this in one other color, Electric Pink (which is brighter, almost a fuschia with a ton more glitter). There's a very good range of colors available in this line, as is with most Lancome lip products.

Something I do want to mention is the stickiness or lack there of. When you first apply this gloss, it can be a bit tacky. However, once it sets a little bit, that goes away and it actually is quite smooth. That's especially important for me since I have long hair and I can't stand to get my hair stuck in my gloss.

This gloss is expensive but well worth it. With Valentine's Day coming up, you definitely want your lips to look kissable, and a good kiss is worth the price of this gloss, if you ask me.

Now, on to the pictures.

The packaging is very nice. The band around the top is supposed to signify the color group that the gloss is from, in this case, pink.

Here's a shot of the applicator. It's very flexible and soft. (That's my wall of perfumes in the background!)

Here's a swatch on my arm. As you can see, it's a bright pink, but it doesn't go on as bright.

As you can see, it's noticeable but not obnoxious. Now, that being said, I'd let my lips be the star when wearing this, and do a simpler eye. But that's just me.

All in all, I'd give this gloss my highest rating: 4 out of 4 cakes

Until next time!

Mes Pieds Pauvres (My Poor Feet)!

Wed, 01/13/2010 - 3:01PM by HelloPretty 0 Comments - 6 Views

I made the mistake of wearing some very uncomfortable shoes to work today. I'm regretting that now, and wish that I had something cute and fuzzy to wear on my feet, and these cute slippers fit the bill. These would be perfect for padding around my apartment, or padding around The Hall of Mirrors.

Think Pink!

Wed, 01/13/2010 - 12:22AM by HelloPretty 0 Comments - 8 Views

"Now, I wouldn't presume to tell a woman what a woman oughtta think, But tell her if she's gotta think: think pink—!" Think Pink, Funny Face, 1957

I love the color pink. Neon Pink, Baby Pink, Corally Pink, Lilac Pink. Ask any self respecting girly girl her favorite color, and it's pretty likely that pink would be at the top of her list.

I'd like to think that Marie Antoinette was a girly girl (one may even be inclined to refer to her as the O.G.G., Original Girly Girl). She definitely had a taste for decadent things, and depending on how literally you take Sofia Coppola's interpretation of her life, she also favored bright candy colors, one of those of course being pink.

As I mentioned in my first entry, I have quite a bit of makeup. I'm not going to go into how much, as my father is undoubtedly reading my blog-Hi Dad! :)  I've decided to set out and shop within my stash, in an attempt to rediscover some forgotten items and review some of my favorite pink products.

Stay tuned over the next few days for some of my reviews. In the meantime, thanks for reading my blog.

Welcome to my Blog!

Sat, 01/09/2010 - 9:23PM by HelloPretty 0 Comments - 7 Views

Thank you for visiting my blog. With the new year here, I've decided that I need some new hobbies. Given my healthy obsession with makeup and beauty products, Marie Antoinette, and social media, this blog seems to be the perfect way for me to marry those together.

I have a pretty large stash of makeup, and I'll definitely be reviewing some of my favorite products, as well as blog about beauty news and interesting tidbits. This is definitely something new for me, so bear with me as I embark on my blogging adventure!

This is Marie Antoinette as depicted by Élisabeth-Louise Vigée-Le Brun. I'd like to think if Marie Antoinette were around nowadays, she'd be utilizing some of these products (which incidently, I use as well).

Philosophy 'pink Frosted Layer Cake' Highfoaming Shampoo, Shower Gel & Bubble Bath

$16.00 by philosophy at Nordstrom

Of course MA would use something sweet and pink! This 3 in 1 shower gel smells good enough to eat, and leaves your skin soft and delicately scented. Let them eat Pink Frosted Layer Cake!

GLOSS VOLUPTÉ Sheer Gloss Stick

$30.00 at Yves Saint Laurent

These stick glosses provide a pop of color in a non sticky formula and they smell like mango! Yum!

NARS Cream Blush

$25.00 by NARS at Neiman Marcus

Cream blushes give a "lit from within" effect, and Mr. Nars makes some of the best ones out there, in my humble opinion. A little goes a long way with these, so don't feel guilty about splurging on these!

Dior DiorShow Extase Mascara

$28.00 by Christian Dior at Sephora

Of course the Queen of France would use a mascara from Dior. This is the newest release in a long line of favorites and it's already receiving rave reviews.

Bow Heart Cameo Aliceband

$25.00 at Topshop

I just couldn't resist including this headband from Topshop. Part Marie Antoinette, part Blair Waldorf and totally cute! J'ai besoin de ça!
